    Hi

I bought FCS via Apple UK with the educational discount.

There is nothing in the box that says it’s the Edu version though – even the serial number says ‘Final Cut Studio Retail’.

Does this mean that when I leave university, I can simply buy the normal upgrade box? I know the rules say you can’t upgrade from Edu to the full retail, but have I got the full retail, or is there some other way they detect that it’s the Edu package I purchased?

    Hope this makes sense!

    Cheers

Why not call Apple and check your upgrade status? You have nothing to lose…

It’s more of an honor system for the educational FCP.
Although, when FCP launches, it does say Academic. So I don’t know if you could upgrade a Academic to a retail?
It should say Academic, not retail. If you call, Apple will probably set you straight on that one.
Obvisouly, it’s not suppose to work that way…
