Hi There,

yikesmikes gave you a bunch of good info for different ways to create 3D looking text.
But as far as having the z-space parameter, it should show up with you click the 3D layer switch? You might want to try again with a different layer or project, to see if it continues.
Depending on how you are using your composition, moving the Comp Camera (as mentioned by mike) will usually yield better results than just moving the layers.

Under the user prefs there’s a check box for timecode breaks, uncheck it and see how far you get.
If that doesn’t work, the switch the device control to ‘non-controlable’ device, then just hit play on your deck.
One of those should do it.

Hi Ty,

Just to echo Dan’s response, the LitePanels are very sexy. I’ve rented the Full 2 light kit twice and I’m always excited to use them and love the portability, but I’m always disappointed at their output. I had the kit for a week while shooting a bunch of interviews, but was only able to use it twice.
Don’t get me wrong, LED is the future. They’re 2x-5x more efficient than florencents, but we’re a couple of generations away from a unit that will fill the bill.
BUT, I’m shooting DVCPRO with no gain, so the camera likes a lot of light. If I was shooting with a Pany, Canon, or Sony Prosumer line with a 6db gain, the LitePanels would give a lot more punch.

Just to echo Shane’s response, if you want the best for portability, size and performance- then the G-Tech mini is the best. I have two of them and cut entire shows from my laptop with them. I have the 7200rpm so it keeps up just great, AND you DON’T need power for it!!!!!
We also have a couple of G-Raids, they are more expensive than the Lacie, but for performance/reliability we like G-tech. Plus are lighter than the Lacies. The only down side is the mini’s are a little small in storage. under 100gbs. The G-Drive would be the next size up, but I haven’t used those. The G-Raid is a little bigger than the Lacie’s standard line-the ‘extreme’ line is bigger.
That being said: We own over 100 Lacie FW drives (no I’m not kidding) That we use. I’ve had very little problems with any of them. If you take care of your drive, it will take care of you.

So it depends on how much you need to edit on them, if you are ‘onlining’ somewhere else, and how portable you need to be in the field.

you need to highlight (click) the layer that you’re replacing in the timeline, then option/drag.

Hi David,

Just for clarity-You’re talking about an entire folder. I’m refering to just importing a LiveType Project File. NOT a rendered movie, but the actual file one would save in LiveType. It WILL import, and it will reference and update from the project. It shows up as a .ipr file in your Browser.

Good to know about the error, I’ll have to give it a try.

uuhhh…unless I’m missing a point, FCP can use LiveType project files. It’s part of the beauty of Final Cut Studio.

But that doesn’t solve the LiveType error. i’m sure David is on the correct track.
