INVALID LIVETYPE FILE DENIES IMPORT
Posted by Dunwoody Lampton on November 12, 2006 at 4:19 amMade 12 text slates for first time in LiveType.
None of them will import to FCE HD 3.0 project.
“File error: of 1 file opened, 1 are of an invalid type.”
This was attempted on G5/Dual Motorola. However, I was able to import different LiveType
files into the same application but a different
project on my PowerBook G4.Why?

November 14, 2006 at 6:05 amYour livetype project file is in the same folder. That is the invalid type.
Did you render a movie to use in FCP. That is what you need to do to. You need to render a movies and then import that for use in FCP.
FCP does not open livetype project files.
PS: Stop SHOUTING in your subject lines, it’ s rude.

uuhhh…unless I’m missing a point, FCP can use LiveType project files. It’s part of the beauty of Final Cut Studio.
But that doesn’t solve the LiveType error. i’m sure David is on the correct track.

I am talking about the ACTUAL LIVETYPE PROJECT file that is saved. NOT the files that you render from LIVETYPE these Livetype projects. If you want to try this on your own do this. Save your livetype project and all of your renders in the same folder and then import the folder.
You will get the error described in the origional post.
Of course Livetype is designed to work with FCP.

November 14, 2006 at 2:35 pmTry uninstalling LT and its support files and preferences. You don’t need to remove the LT media. Then reinstall LT. The project should come in correctly as a direct import into FCE.
All the best,
Tom

November 14, 2006 at 4:47 pmHi David,
Just for clarity-You’re talking about an entire folder. I’m refering to just importing a LiveType Project File. NOT a rendered movie, but the actual file one would save in LiveType. It WILL import, and it will reference and update from the project. It shows up as a .ipr file in your Browser.
Good to know about the error, I’ll have to give it a try.
Cheers,

November 15, 2006 at 1:13 amThanks, Tom!
And thanks also to David and Todd.
I capitalize my subject titiles so old men like me with
bad eyes can read them more easily.I am a bit confused, though, that Tom’s was the only
reply that followed-up with a correct reference to Express,
not Pro. As I said in my query, I am running FCE.Another concern I have is that I am running FCE and
LiveType on both a G5, where I couldn’t import, and
a G4/laptop, where I could import. The concern is
the fact that the G5 was acquired from a previous
owner and has about 10 partitions to the hard disk.
I am slowly learning where the boot drive is located,
where the O.S. is located, but am still mostly confused
about what this all means, and even more disappointed
that I can’t seem to reduce the number of partitions
through the few inexperienced attempts I’ve made.
Add to that the fact that I was forced to reinstall
Mac O.S. X in order to create a new user name and
password since the prior user’s name and password
prevented me from installing any software, and you
have one thoroughly confused editor!I will attempt all suggestions and bid you all a great
week.
