I’ve had tapes that had timecode glitches respond that way for a short time, but not continuously. First thing you need to verify the dub by playing back on a deck-not through FCP. I know of NO setting that would cause this.

This can be a function Macrovision copyright off of the VHS. Use the same path to view the tape, but don’t digitize and see if it’s color.

I believe you’re trying to start the transition before the start of your LiveType media-which is why FCP is giving you the error. Make the LiveType longer and trim the beginning of the clip until you have enough for the transition.

Usually this means that your DVD drive is failing.
Sometimes you can get by-by using different media.

But chance’s are you’ll need to replace the burner.

for some understanding on how to do this effect. You can attach a sound frequency to about any parameter you want to affect the effect.
You can probably achieve close to the same effect by using an expression with the audio layer.

Yes, as long as the extension is on the end of the Mac file the PC will open it. PC to Mac is seamless.

If you haven’t fix this, you should try to uncheck the media limits size and time.
What’s happening is that FCP is sending over a bunch of 2.9gig files to make sure the HD has the room. It’s a goof. Ran into it a lot with FCP 4.

Trash prefs
restart
trash bad files on HD
run Disk Utility and repair disk (just to make sure that you haven’t corrupted the TOC)
restart FCP – uncheck size limit.
