[Jeremy Garchow] ” think the reason to extend TB3 is because with one or two cables, you can deliver all that data and capability to your desks without having to run a separate cable for each data requirement. “
Yes, that makes sense. We found that we wanted to stay as flexible as possible. We use a Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI 8K HDR for the grading monitor for example, which get’s its SDI signal from a UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3. Those are both noisy units as are most BMD products with fans. With TB in the room we would have to pull all that gear back inside.
In addition we did some math and the separate cables were much cheaper than throwing in a 15 meter optical TB cable.

[Oliver Peters] “I suspect you’ll see that in some broadcast facilities, but more likely in large engineering environments or data centers.”
I recently banned all fans from my workspace and stored away all of the noisy stuff as well. Just outside the edit room in a cooled rack.
Mac Pro, Jellyfish Mobile, Promise Raid, and TB outboard gear are all out there – thus no need to extend TB3. The only signals/cables going back into the suite are: USB 3.0 extender for all things USB, 10Gb Network cable for all things on the network, HDMI cables for the two 4K work monitors, HDMI for the 4K grading Monitor and the MADI Link cable to bring the audio into the room.
Working has been pleasant again ever since…

I just noticed something. Even when I just click on the JPG on the media page, without even importing it, Resolve crashes.
I just noticed that Resolve reads/interprets the width resolution of the image as a negative value. That could certainly be a starting point why the system crashes, no?
Thank you,

I am running the same setup without a problem. R14 PB4 scanned my UA plug ins once and they all show up within the application.
I can not figure out however, how to get the audio from R14 to my apollo… any advice?

[Michael Gissing] “With the CC-2 card you get 1000 channels, all with EQ & dynamics processing, total automation etc etc.”
Is that purely a processing card or also an I/O card?

Yes, I couldn’t find any implementation yet… The Fairlight section in the Beta Manual has many empty pages. Just wanted to check if anyone here had heard anything…
Perhaps anyone from BMD reading this, could chime in… thanks.

From what I heard (and thought I read somewhere), you will be able to use third party DAW controllers with Resolve14, just like there are various color grading controllers (I use Tangent Element) other that the old and new BMD Resolve control surfaces.
I am wondering which protocol for DAW control will be implemented in Resolve14…?
