What SAN are you using for FCPX?

We are looking around as we need to add capacity. We have a Tiger Technolgies based system at the moment, and we are looking for something that supports FCPX a little better.

We are looking for 10GB ethernet, and connection to LTO7/8 is a plus.

So far I have inquired about SNS EVO, Small Tree, Lumaforge.

I would like the system to be as close to an ‘appliance’ as possible.

What are you using and how is the experience with FCPX?

We have both QNAP and LumaForge. Feel free to e-mail me. We have been happy with both, but each have their own particular sweet spots.

Lumaforge Jellyfish. Hands down, the best option. Worth every penny for performance and customer support.

So, It’s with great excitement that I’m officially stepping away from the day to day of LumaForge to build my filmmaking community We Make Movies and step in as the lead contributor for FCP.co.

I’ll be teaming up with Peter Wiggins (still running the show as editor in chief) and Ronny Courtens as we set out to take FCP.co to the next level and revitalize the FCPX, iOS, and Apple creative education communities.

    Hi Mark –
I was not clear – I am not with FCP.co or Lumaforge.

Sam Mestman has moved on, and is now running FCP.co

I was just copying and pasting from the article. I was in shock !

    Hi Bob,

Just to put a few things in the right perspective: Sam is still with LumaForge, just as I am. And the company is doing extremely well.

But Sam is not a business type, as he said himself in the article. That’s why he wants to be more involved in creative processes again such as writing and filmmaking. And that’s why he has joined FCP.co. I will also be more involved with FCP.co again, writing case studies and organizing special events like I did before. I will combine this with my work for LumaForge.

We will have a bigger presence at IBC this year, both on the floor and outside of the RAI. Just like every year, Sam and I will host our private briefings at Spaces and we will have our traditional boat trip along the canals followed by the Lumaforge dinner in the harbor. Last year we had to charter two boats, it looks like there are going to be 3 this year (-:

Anyone who wants to learn more about our company and our products is welcome to schedule a private chat with me and Sam, either online or in-person at IBC. Just drop me an e-mail: ronny@lumaforge.com
