Thank you for your replies!
I’m seeing some really good results upresing inside of Davinci!!!
The on the fly upres to 1080p done by the blackmagic out an FCP 720p timeline, to my 99” projection screen via component output, doesn’t look good at all… So I’m confused… Not sure what to do… Quality is a priority for this job!
I don’t have an HD deck to test this further and I would hate to waste money renting one and being disapointed with the results…
Is there a by the book way to do this?

I’m still looking for a low budget solution and $13k is definitely not the answer, not just for me, but for the many that are entering the world of professional color correction!
Just like Plasmas weren’t accepted as reference monitors, just a few years back, I could be dead wrong, but I believe that there are projection solutions out there, that approximate the reliability of a Plasma. No they won’t be as good/reliable, but that’s no different then comparing a real reference monitor with a Plasma TV! And that doesn’t stop the hundreds if not thousands, using them, from doing beautiful professional work!
Right now I’m looking at the Panasonic PT-AE4000 and the JVC DLA-HD250
They differ over 1K in price and seem to be in the very high end of HOME cinema projectors.
From all the research that I’ve done, these seem to have the deepest blacks, the most faithful color rendition and the most calibration options, in the sub $4K world. If there’s any one out there that has had any experience with these projectors, or others in this class, I would love to hear about it!!!???

101 everyone tries, problem is that few of us stick to it… So it’s more profitable to have several 101 courses, instead..
Let’s see what this new FXPHD Resolve 8 will offer… Shame they took down and don’t plan on making their previous 201 available anymore… ;(

That’s exactly the kind of solution I’m looking for!
I’ve been looking at the Optoma HD200X, but after some research I found this Epson EH-TW3200 that seems to offer more color calibration control, more lumens, less rainbow artifacts, better image quality and it’s still just under $1000! Boy am I missing eBay in the States, already… The Euro is just depressingly high…
Here’s the review that set me off in a different direction:
https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/projectors/1282222/epson-eh-tw3200And yeah, I’m not dreaming of doing a client session with a home projector, but I will be meeting with potential clients who will check out this setup. If there’s enough interest I’ll make the move to a proper projector.
Right now I’m only grading https://www.roadtored.com/ and having the luxury of spending as long as please with it.
Thanx again,

Thank you for all the feedback!
Yeah, I can’t afford and 8 grand projector now… ;( I’m only looking for a projector for the experience, I’ll be referencing to the FSI, with or without projector.

I’ve been reading many threads here and I’ve been looking at the JVC’s since I read one of your posts.
By cheap I mean, HOME cinema cheap… Under $2000 or even $1000… The JVC will come later if it all works out. But for now I’m already up to my neck and need to gain a bit more flotation, if you catch my drift.
I’m looking for a solution that allows me to experience the projection itself, not a projected reference. Ideally I should be able to manually calibrate it by sight and just get it close enough that it doesn’t look jarring enough to distract me…
I know this might sound a little loopy, but I have my reasons to do it and believe this will eventually lead me to the conditions I need to then buy a proper setup…
Thanx again for your input!!!!!!

I heard they will be announcing a new program for Resolve 8, soon, but I believe it will run outside of their regular curriculum.

Thank you for confirming that to me, Kevin!
The information you can use the Decklink without the HDMI slots, isn’t clear, nor easy to find…
Guess I’ll be one more DaVincian towards the end of next week… ; )~

Yeah, I hear you…
Maybe the Guys at Red should think about getting an SDI out of the RedRocket… but then BMD wouldn’t support it, cause they wanna sell their cards… so, we’ll be eternally stuck in this marketing bamboozle…
On the other hand, we’re so blessed to be living these times!
I still remember when I put a 3 disk SCSI RAID with 9.9 GB that could play 35mins of miniDV in real time… and nobody believed it could work… haha!
