Setting up a grading room on a budget. Any suggestions?!
Hi,
I’m about to setup a color correction room to grade a feature length film ( https://www.roadtored.com/ )
I’m currently in Portugal (and obviously getting my ass kicked by jet lag, as it’s 6am here…) and have been waiting to put this space to use…
I’m coming from Color and I’ll be using a Wave, with an FSI monitor, on a Quad-core Nehalen, with Nvidea GT 120 and GTX 285 and Decklink Extreme 3D.
I had a different idea at first, but I’m contemplating setting this up, not just for now, but thinking about future expansion…
Although I’ll be using the FSI as my main reference, I thought having a projector would greatly enhance the capability of feeling how the Theatre experience will be like?!
So, here I am with this layout asking for the kind opinion of the knowledgeable ones on the matter.
I don’t really have any budget left, so this will be coming out of my pocket… ;(..
I’m only looking for a solution for the very short term and to gage clients reactions to the setup, to see if I should later jump to something serious.
I’ll also be screening the film to a number of people, as I’m trying to put some promotional/sponsorship deals together, before the film is finished, and as they are mostly non film people, I’m sure this will be a lot more effective to impress them.
So, my question is; does anyone have a suggestion for an affordable (read cheap) 1080p projector, I could eye ball a color bar manual calibration, just for the theatre like experience? I will still be referencing form the FSI!!!!
Any other suggestions or ideas that could improve the setup/layout are very welcome and very appreciated!!!!!
Thanx! And please don’t bash me if anything looks utterly stupid in there… haha!
T ; )~
