    OK thanks Vince.

I think i may be the ‘victim’ of the latter, as the same file(s) seem to be getting generated, and this process is taking quite some time, even with me not touching the software.

When you say “move the media cache folder”, to which are you referring (i.e. how ill I identify this), where will I move it to, or do you mean delete it altogether?

    TIA

If you could explain to me how to do that frame rate ‘thing’, then I’ll give it a try and see if it is the effect i want.

Max Headroom is certainly something similar to what I want, but I don’t have any of my own examples.

All I can say is I want the effect like that which I get when reviewing an un-rendered piece of footage on my PC!

FWIW…. I’m using PAL Widescreen 48Khz as my preset.

You mean 16:9 and 4:3, surely?

    Thanks….

I’ve set the external drives drive letter to one that is alphabetically before the internal one, and now it is seen as default by Encore.

A bad shortcoming by Adobe IMO

Think I may have now identified the problem…. the DSR-11 is stuck in DVCAM mode (we have no remote!) whereas my tapes are all miniDV recorded.

Going to see if I can get hold of a remote control, change the setting, and hope for the best!

Changed the DSR-11 to a Panasonic GS230 camcorder, and the problem goes away!

Must be something to do with FCP and the Sony deck, as the deck works perfectly under Adobe Premiere Pro on a Windows machine.

Unfortunately, I’ve had FCP forced on me at work, so I’ve got to use it, so I guess my employer will have to come up with some replacement hardware.

I like FCP6, although I’m still getting used to it, just a shame that the trouble free transition I was expecting with a Mac hasn’t occurred… Macs can be just as problematic as Windows it seems 🙁
