I’ve had this to some degree in the past but now, just today I can’t seem to get rid of the crackling. I’m on a G5 Quad FCS 5.1.1 with 4 gig ram, OS 10.4.7 and the latest Kona drivers, 8 SATA II drives hooked onto a Sonnet E4P. I’ve switched to Freerun but no luck. I also tried some audio clips through ITunes which resulted in the same crackling.
Any news on this problem?

Still no fix for this problem??? Holy crap, seems that the upgrade was a waste of money. No Red Transitions from timeline when using Compressor, can’t use with Mac Pro yet. Makes me wonder if they have the color and size problem fixed in the “text window”? Are we sure Boris is still supporting Mac?
I’m glad I’ve been too busy to install Red 4.

If you look down the list a bit, one of the guys is having luck with BCC 4.0.1 and 5.1.2.
I’m still using 5.1.1 and have to trash my prefs once in a while to get BCC and Red 3 to work. I just got in Red 4 but I’m scared to install.

Boris Red and Continuum…and a new Driver from Sonnet, that’s holding me back from moving my Mac Pro into my main edit suite. I’ve tried using the Boris that comes with FCP and have noticed some funny little circles in the drop shadows. It’s sitting here collecting dust.

RED 4 should be here tomorrow. I’m looking forward to seeing if this is fixed or not. Fingers are crossed.
Then it’s the wait for the Mac Pro version. What was the Ketchup commercial? Anticipation…….

Yes, I have a Kona 3 in my G5 Quad. But without those other two pieces of software I have to wait before swapping out the card to the Mac Pro.
The only other problem I’ve heard about is the ram problem, I’m sure you’ve read about that down below.

I just received my Mac Pro, it’s sitting on the floor waiting on Boris Red to become universal and also my Sonnet SATA E4P card needs new drivers. Guess it’s a paper weight until I get these.
Not to discourage you or anything.

August 28, 2006 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Does MAC PRO (Universal) work with these FCP Plugins?I was told from Boris that we needed to wait on a upgrade for Red and Contiuum.

That is what I’m running, although I had to uninstall BCC 4 and reinstall. That helped with my problems. Watch out for deleting FCP prefs, so far everytime I’ve done so I had to go back and reinstall the latest update. I was told after deleting prefs, start FCP with the Caps Lock button down…quit and start FCP without the caps lock on. I’ll give that a try next time I delete prefs.

So after deleting the prefs… do the cap lock trick. Next time I have to delete prefs I’ll give it a try.
