Ugh…I thought it was in CS4…it came back in CS5. (I’m an Adobe instructor and I’m afraid the versions run together on me sometimes.)

It was a separate application that only ran on Windows in CS3…right after the buyout…but was “in transition” to being integrated and made cross platform during CS4…and then released as an effect in CS5.

If you have AE, Keylight is excellent, though a bit more elaborate.

I’m not sure I’m following this… Does QT player on your machine play the file? Have you followed up on what sort (how powerful) of computers your users are attempting to play the file on?

Did you make any adjustments to the export settings? It sounds like you may have mouse-wheeled down and inadvertently changed something (one of Adobe PPro and Media Encoders worst traits…the ‘always active’ roll-over widgets)…something I end up doing rather frequently.

If I had to guess, I’d say the export settings may have slipped in the “profile” and “levels” parameters from the preset…

They sent you test files that worked…and the next files did not…have you inquired with them as to what’s different about the later files?

Is the Ultra keyer inside PPro (which is the Serious Magic keyer) inadequate?

Your link fails so I don’t know what sort of advice you got.

You need to grab the same size area you plan on using at playback…period. If you plan on using 1024x 768 or 640×480, or whatever…your best plan is always to scale your interface so it stays exactlt the same size all the way through.

Interface text is usually one pixel wide and there is no margin of error.

I think many of us think similar things…but I suspect Adobe’s challenge is just ‘how’ to unify it all…somebody will feel at home, somebody will find it unnatural.

I can tell you Adobe is working with a focus on Premiere Pro that seems more intense than I’ve ever seen before.

…I guess we’ll see what arrives.

Just keep in mind that Cmd (Ctrl) +K is more like a buzzsaw…all tracks active are cut.

It works great when I need to slice into a massive vertical edit and move everything apart.

Keep in mind what else I said in that post…it’s based on what I’ve seen happen to-date…and I bailed on Avid early on and came to Premiere from Media 100 in excess of a decade ago.

I happen to agree with the idea that the timeline functionality has too many different “select” and “target” metaphors all working over the top of each other. I’ve noted that myself.

My point was that Avid users have already had some influence…and that did not change functionality as much as simply tack more on…

Adobe is trying to give editors what they’re looking for in the professional world, but there are as many preferred ways of working as there are editors.

Personally, I’d like to see the timeline operational metaphors streamlined and optimized, which does not mean a -complete- mimic of Avid, Apple, or anyone else IMO, though I’m certainly in favor of using what works best, whoever invented the concept…

…but simple aggregation of features like this creates what we have currently…in/out for some functions, work area for others, multiple select for others…insert/copy/extract/cut/copy/duplicate/track focus/track target…lots of options I guess…

…no disrespect or “shot” intended in my post, cheap or otherwise.
