I’d download GoPro CineForm Studio (free) and export to CineForm 10 bit 4:2:2.

It’s easily on par with ProRes…and it’s actually cross-platform (can be wrapped as QuickTime or AVI…and rewrapped once it’s created.

Once the file is on the Mac, you can change it to ProRes.

Alternately, you could export via SDI to an AJA KiPro and create a ProRes file that way…

March 15, 2014 at 8:44 pm in reply to: AVCHD render Assistance/Advice PLEASE PLEASE…….

The first thing I’d look at would be the location of the preview renders, MPEG2 really shouldn’t be very stressful to play back, but if your system drive is where those preview render files are located, you are probably asking the system drive to do too much with the OS, the application AND the HD preview file playback…particularly since you’re likely doing some sort of disk caching with only 8GB of RAM available.

The Titler in Premiere Pro doesn’t animate…but then, you can add BorisFX plugins to PPro the same as you can to FCP and do the same thing.

  • When you click on the title in the bin, does it have the same pixel aspect as your footage?

The frame grab you posted definitely looks like the result is that the title is stretched…and the pixel aspect being wider would do what I’m seeing there.

Then, I would say you want to back track and think about any system changes you made in the time period when the crashes started to happen…and driver updates…new anti-virus…definitely and added hardware…any new software installs…

Something changed in your system that caused it to start doing this if you were running without an issue previously.

Yes, I’m aware of Walter’s current situation.

My profile on Linked In would probably answer some questions:

First off, the probability that the crashing has to do with your system fonts is likely zero…so my guess is all that did more harm than good…

After reinstalling CS6, did you apply the updates?

Honestly most fonts that the Titler doesn’t like just don’t display right…it’s a rare font that will crash the Titler/Premiere Pro entirely. This sounds like a preference or project corruption. To test anything you do from this point forward, you’d need to create a new project and make a Title and save it, save the project, open it, etc.

If you can do what you need to do with the titler in a new project, the project(s) you are having difficulty with are likely culprits.

If you create a new project and import the problem project into it, try to make that crash… If it doesn’t, the problem was in the original problem project itself.

No…I don’t sell equipment or products.

What I’m saying is manufacturers and developers have brought me in to troubleshoot workflows and make them run smoothly for facilities that are their clients…the equipment or software or whatever has been sold already and I make what’s there work as efficiently as possible. facilities moving into Adobe from other software have had to rethink how they go about things to really capitalize on the changeover.

Basically I come in and look at the component software packages in a given workflow, the acquisition formats, the bottlenecks, etc, and help to work out the kinks and maintain visual quality with minimal processing time.

…feel free to ask Walter about me if you wish…or if he has time, I suppose he could answer your questions.

The trick with “source settings” is that on a merged clip, PPro doesn’t automatically know which source you mean…there is more than one in a merged clip.

You could work on a given R3D clip on a “scratch” timeline without the merged audio…and in theory, the metadata change should take place for each instance of that master clip…I would expect it to also apply to the merged clip.

    …just a thought.

I’ve done some of this…usually through manufacturers…probably best to make contact and discuss what exactly you’re looking for, formats in use, OSs in use, etc.
