??? He’s not saying anything about the size of a pixel. The example diagrams are really clear, he’s suggesting what would effectively be custom image maps for the iris shape of a lens blur… which would be amazing, hope it is somehow possible tho I don’t know of any existing AE plugin which does this.

I agree with the other replies. 25fps is close enough to 24fps, will look more like a ‘film look’ than ‘messed up jumpy skipping a frame every second look’ or ‘weird frame blending look’ which you will get if you try to convert 🙂

This doesn’t look like a ‘traditional’ distressed texture to me so much as some lossy gif compression artifacts. Probably the original animation just had some fake film grain added and that is playing havoc with the compression

if you do want animated distressed texture you could just paint and scan some rough black+white ink/watercolour washes and loop a few different ones (enough to not be tooo obvious that it’s a repeated loop) + overlay it on your whole animation with some transfer mode or other. Or download something similar from some free textures site. Probably you’d want to animate it on twos

Old cel animation doesn’t really have that kind of texture tho so it depends how realistic you are aiming for. At most and old film could be faded and damaged and you might get some dirt + scratches, if you want that look there’s plenty of good film dirt + grain overlays out there to download.

Why do you feel the need to post sarcastic, patronising and aggressive comments like this just because you misunderstood the post?

It could have been a little better explained but I saw the title “only 3 exact color” and immediately guessed “this person probably wants to posterize something in a way that would be best achieved using Colorama with Interpolate switched off”, and someone else had already beaten me to suggesting it. No need to be mean when you don’t have a useful answer and just didn’t understand the question.

  • I’d make a matte of the effected area, use it to apply some subtle median/minimax/blur combo, some kind of re-colour (eg tint/tritone maybe) it to match the orange and then grain to match the footage. I guess you will probably have to manually roto the matte rather than any kind of tracking

  • yeah but he NEVER said he wanted any of that? where did you get they idea that the aim was ‘matching the original’? obviously he wants it to be a shot of something on a screen FOR EFFECT

They both look more like actual analog photos with real motion blur than anything photoshopped.

  • time remapping an audio file or a (video with audio) changes the speed and pitch in this way.

You shouldn’t have to manually adjust anything, this definitely can work. Probably be something to do with setting the Cineware camera to ‘centered comp camera’ rather than ‘comp camera’…. or some issue with the ext compositing tagged objects grouping in relation to the camera in the C4D comp… or some exported after effects camera parenting stuff that’s not come in to C4D properly… or any number of weird cineware problems ????

  • cache speed would rule more if the caching in AE actually worked properly and didn’t need clearing every 5 minutes to troubleshoot inexplicable problems, or turning off entirely to get certain shots to render at all without crashing :-/

but yeah put it on the fastest drive you can, that way when it’s working it will be fast ,and when it’s not you won’t have to wait 10 minutes for GBs of cache to be deleted 🙂
