I was actually going to ask about rendering direct to .h264 and re encoding from a NLE after (in regards to negative quality). Your suggestion makes a lot of sense, I guess I was just scared of megabytes 🙂

I’ll switch to uncompressed codecs now regardless of the pan results.

As far as the camera plug, it looks like a god-send. Amazing!

thanks for the response.

I’m rendering to a .mov with .h264 codec

I’m thinking it’s because of the 24 frames and speed of the pan (the pan isn’t super fast, but maybe just a little fast relative to the proximity of the objects).

One thing that would really help, is getting a better grip on camera ramp stuff.. So the camera would do a very slow pan across object #1, then rush to object#2, do a very slow pan across object #2, then rush to object #3 etc.

I’ve been trying to watch tutorials on cameras, both with target cameras and a camera / null object etc, but haven’t really mastered it very well.

Any suggestions on good tutorials for camera work? I’m loving cinema 4D, but have struggled to get great camera moves..

Do you mean to resize and position each of the clips independently? My goal is to find a fast way to do this, as if I take the time to resize / position 30 clips it will probably take more time then if I had just watched them independently..

I’m not sure If I got what you’re saying.. Correct me if you’re not saying to resize each individually?

As a matter of fact, they did play to a click track of sorts, although not digital sync, cause it was the band take.. But still, they listened to the same audio recording each of the three times I recorded the Milli Vanilli video takes ; )

My work is actually pretty sloppy.. My first take I tried to keep the shot pretty steady, the second take I tried to get closer and follow the singer a bit more, and finally I got really up close and more experimental for the close ups (ie. running over to the guitarist during the solo, running back to the singer for the last chorus etc etc).

Haha, I have this problem where the singer doesn’t like all the mic cables on the floor in the master shot (it was in a jam space), and wants me to super impose red / green / gold bars over the floor. BUT, I was panning the camera, so I think that’s going to be crazy to try and mask or something!

Your idea about chunks and V solo etc etc is a good one, and kind of similar to what I’ve been doing.. But it’s still not quite as live as I’ve been hoping for.

I’d like to be able to say, have my hand on three keys as a video switcher (like a/s/d or something?) as it runs, and just jam out with these three video keys.. Wow, imagine I had a usb midi controller to do fades and stuff? That would be even cooler.

Seeing as they did play to a click (kinda) and were just lip synching, I’m hoping this multi cam clip thing will work.

Tom mentioned ‘C’ in my other post (I tacked on the question), and it’s saving me huge time now.. Keyboard only editing with control ; / ‘ to nav. markers, C to select clips, option ] / [ for heads and tails and control x / v to move clips.

I’m going to watch that tutorial now, and hopefully it will bring even MORE efficiency. I noticed it earlier (when I watched the two timeline / compound clip tuts. but never ended up watching the live editing one).
