Is it really necessary for you to work the original R3D files? Check out your target format and:
1. If it`s not over 1080p
2. If you don´t need extensive color correction (i.e. with Resolve)
3. if you don`t need to flexibel with the scaling of your footage during the session
4. if it´s for TV, BlueRay or simularyou´ll render the stuff out from RedcineX in FotoJPG, Animation-Codec or what else and work with that. That should work on your Laptop. Working with the R3D-files needs a HP800, Mac 12Core,… to have fun with.

I had simular problems. I switched of the Cuda cards and it disappeared. So it probably has something to do with the right positions of your grafic cards in your computer.

I’ve been to an Adobe presentation last week and the trainer said that Adobe plans to bring out major updates every year now. Probably this information helps you for your decisions.

Are you sure that your MacPro is compatible with the GTX 285? Your Mac must be Vers. 3.1

September 1, 2011 at 3:42 pm in reply to: AJA Kona 3G or BlackMagic Decklink Extreme 3D for Premiere ProHi Jeff,
and keep in mind – if you change your systems Mac Pro from earlier generations they don`t accept the current CUDA Cards. That`s the next thing what we discovered. If you want to use the QuadroFX 4000 for example you need min. a Mac Pro from generation 3.1. Means you probably have to change a lot of hardware without getting a mentionable improvenment from your machine (except the better performance from the CUDA card of course).

September 1, 2011 at 1:14 pm in reply to: AJA Kona 3G or BlackMagic Decklink Extreme 3D for Premiere ProI also read that BM Cards have their problems with CUDA cards – but that`s just what I´ve heard – I didn`t try it myself. MY dealer recommended me the Matrox.

Hi Petros,
now I found out that the AJA drivers seem to be the reason. If I use a timeline with the AJA settings to preview with the Kona LHe – audio is flipping around.
That`s one of the big disadvantages of Premiere. The AJA integration works not on the same professional level as it does with FCP.Cheers
