    Hi guys.

I just installed Resolve on one of our macpro computers, and after tons of struggle and a reinstall I found out that it was actually two of my new GTX 285 cards that are no good. They crash the computer whenever I try to run anything that is using CUDA. Great.

Well anyway, I threw in another GTX 285 card that I know works (I have had it in another macpro), and now I can run Resolve. But another problem arises…

There are no users in Resolve. No guest and no admin, and if I try to hit “+”, trying to add a user, nothing happends. I tried to create a new database, but I don´t have any users in this database either.

Anyone else had problems with no users in Resolve?

Yes and there is a solution for it .

A fix for this requires a few command for you to type on the terminal. This will uninstall the database, so the next install of Resolve will install it properly.

    1) Stop the server
    sudo /sbin/SystemStarter stop postgresql-8.4
    2) Remove menu shortcuts:
    sudo rm -rf /Applications/PostgreSQL 8.4
    3) Remove the ini file
    sudo rm -rf /etc/postgres-reg.ini
    4) Removing Startup Items
    sudo rm -rf /Library/StartupItems/postgresql-8.4
    5) Remove the data and installed files
    sudo rm -rf /Library/PostgreSQL/8.4
    6) Delete the user postgres
    sudo dscl . delete /users/postgres

Now, re-install Resolve, reboot, and then start Resolve.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,
    Rohit

Keep in mind, this will remove your DB completely.
I suggest moving away from the local DB and using a dedicated machine for it.
    Works very very here.

Are you sure that your MacPro is compatible with the GTX 285? Your Mac must be Vers. 3.1

    Cheers
    Thomas.

Thanks guys, the macpro is from this year, so yep, it is compatible. And I tried with another GTX 285, and it works just fine. These are PC-flashed cards purchased from Ebay, sadly I had bad luck and got bad-flashed cards or something.

I have contacted the seller, haven´t received any reply yet but he is big and seems honest so it will be interesting to see how we solve this.
