Yes I know about this. And I try to be very carefull with that too. But still, would such a thing also give a code 10 error?

I completely agree with this. I use the zooming on stills in Vegas only to create motion, but I alway first prepare the photo’s in Photoshop, including any effect that is required.

I would disconnect the scanner from the PC and then try again to start Vegas.

Assuming that your pictures contain square pixels (like they come from a photo camera):

PAL SD: 787 x 576 pixels
NTSC SD: 655 x 480 pixels

If you plan to zoom in a little bit, you can double both values.

There are also free 3D animation programs like anim8tor

However when you need to create the 3D model you will need a program like 3D-Max, which requires some time to be able to work with.

A cheaper 3D modelling program is Carrara 3D (still very expensive if you need it only once):

In contrast to CURVES, Brightness and Contrast are always applied to the whole frame, with very little possibilities to adjust where the effect is the strongest. For that reason I always use LEVELS and CURVES but never BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST
