Why don’t you use in photoshop the same colorspace as you are goping to use in Vegas? That should prevent colorshifting.

Which version of Vegasre you using?
You can try network rendering (even if you are rendering on a stand-alone computer). This sometimes prevents the memory problem.

So how could I e.g.connect the audio volume envelope to the video track fade to color envelope?

The pre/post toggle button is the small arrow on the left side of the name of an effect at the timeline which is present in the videoFX window

Turn off feathering?

1) Add audio to the timeline
2) Add BlueCat Peakmeter to the audio track FX (in this example track 2 (voice over)
3) Open CONFIGURE FX AUTOMATION window
4) Select OUT::ENVELOPE
5) Close the FX AUTOMATION CHOOSER window but keep the AUDIO PLUG-IN window open.
Play the timeline and the audio envelope will be created dependent on the content of the audio track.
