    The BlueCat Peakmeter can be used to add a volume envelope to an audio track. And by using the Excalibur script, this audio volume envelope can be used again to affect the audio volume envelope of another audio track (e.g the background music).

    In After Effects, something similar can bedone. But there, the audio volume of one track can regulate (nearly) all other effects on all other tracks. Would it be possible to have in Vegas Pro a script that does something like that. So that e.d. the volume envelop of a background music track, generated by the BlueCat peakmeter, will drive other efects like luminance, hue etc. So that the result would look like the effect of the VASST Mayhem script, but then driven by the volume of the background music?

    [Theo van Laar] “The BlueCat Peakmeter can be used to add a volume envelope to an audio track.”

    How do you do this? It’s not obvious from the plug-in how it works to create a volume envelope in Vegas Pro.

    1) Add audio to the timeline

    2) Add BlueCat Peakmeter to the audio track FX (in this example track 2 (voice over)

    3) Open CONFIGURE FX AUTOMATION window

    4) Select OUT::ENVELOPE

    5) Close the FX AUTOMATION CHOOSER window but keep the AUDIO PLUG-IN window open.
    Play the timeline and the audio envelope will be created dependent on the content of the audio track.

    OK, that’s exactly what I was doing except I was using the VST version which apparently doesn’t work. You need to use the DirectX version. Had you not used screen shots I would have not noticed the subtle difference in the plug-in names. Thanks!

    I’ll look into what scripting can do with this.

    Scripting API allows us to read envelope points and create other envelopes (like volume envelope for voice-over) but scripts can not change video fx parameters. They can only apply a preset.

    “Scripting API allows us to read envelope points and create other envelopes (like volume envelope for voice-over)”

    So how could I e.g.connect the audio volume envelope to the video track fade to color envelope?
