[JoNuggs] “there’s plenty of qt stuff”
…where qt stands for Quality rather than Quicktime, doesn’t it? 😉

One thing I like to use is the roughen edges with simple forms. Test it, create some simple small black circles at the same position, wiggle them, precompose and play with the roughen edges tool. It can make really nice blobs, and you can move some of them automatically and others manually.

March 28, 2007 at 1:16 pm in reply to: Stabilizing only the first few frames…and ending with the original anchor pointIf I understood your question properly, only the anchor points are modified. So just select the anchor points and clic reset while being on the last one.
If that does not work and position data is not modified, change that value with the timeline positioned at the last keyframe for the anchor points.
If none of these works, there’s a dirtier way that should work: go go any point of the timeline after the stabilization, create a null object and attach the layer to that null object. Then change al necessary transform values to the null object to correct the video layer.

March 27, 2007 at 11:17 am in reply to: Stabilizing only the first few frames…and ending with the original anchor pointI believe you can solve that problem this way:
Once you’ve tracked and applied the stabilization, go to the last stabilized keyframe and select all previous ones of the layer in the timeline. Considering that this very frame should be in place and isn’t, clic on reset. This will put that frame in it’s default position and won’t reset the other keyframes, but it will move them the exact number of pixels from their relative position.

I’ll try to avoid Vista as long as I can, so it’s ok for me.

Also in some of the shots of Heroes there are some noticeable actors holding still. I recall one shot at the roulette in an episode where that clearly happened.

March 1, 2007 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Animating mask, is it possible to only animate 1 anchor point without keyframing the others?Hi yikesmikes, I just wanted to point out that there’s a 1.1 version of the script, check the aenhancers thread.
I’m glad you enjoy it. There’s a chance I make a version 2.0 in the future with some interesting new features. This is, if the new AE version coming doesn’t have all this by default.

March 1, 2007 at 5:46 pm in reply to: COW Tutorials: After Effects Frame Rate ConverterTwo things:
1. Great great tutorial, I wish I had had it a few weeks ago. Will help in a near future anyway. What was that about the ps3 again?
2. The West Wing dvds in PAL have an opening that sucks. The American flag in slomo seems to be interlaced. It’s extremely weird to catch an ntsc show that combines interlaced footage with progressive, and for some reason it always happens with timewarped shots.

Nope, sorry, I tested it and it doesn’t work.
Weird, didn’t know swf export doesn’t support subtract masks.

Duplicate the mask an reduce a little bit its extension. Then change it to substract.
