March 21, 2007 at 6:43 pm“Adobe says you’ll have to upgrade to new versions of popular (and really expensive) software like Photoshop, InDesign and DreamWeaver if you want them to run well under Windows Vista. ”
This is not the situation that Mac users faced when Apple, continuing to improve, came out with new machines (and software to support them) and Adobe’s response was we’ll get to updating our software when we have another development cycle (18 to 24 months).
This would appear to be the opposite. Hum.

March 21, 2007 at 7:09 pmI guess it just means that the change to Vista was too great for a free maintenance upgrade.
Hey, when you have a computer, you get nibbled at a lot, and every now and then a big bite is taken out of you. That’s just the way it goes.

March 21, 2007 at 7:23 pmi’ve been following vista development for a while now and it seems like there’s about 50 million lines of code that were being rewritten as late as 3 months ago. There’s lots of display adaptors that just won’t work on vista, and a ton of other problems. It does not surprise me that lots of developers, not just Adobe, are not jumping on the free update for vista bandwagon. I’ve even heard reports that MS Office 2000 doesn’t play well with vista and that you’ll have to pay for an upgrade if you want word, powerpoint, and excel to work well.

March 21, 2007 at 7:30 pmThe difference is in the wait. Vista available recently, Adobe updates available soon. Mac intel change 12 to 18 months ago, Adobe updates still waiting.
For the most part I don’t care. AE 7 works on my dual-core Xeon Mac. I’m just tired of all the webbies asking how to create an outline of their video and export to flash.
