[killideas] “ok, relax… If I came off snarky there, I apologize… so if anyone who is a bit less sensitive has any ideas, that would be awesome, and thanks in advance…”

Yeah, no snarky goin’ on here.

If (and I don’t know for sure) there is no dedicated headphone jack, you can use the A/V jack for this.

First (just to try it) plug in a set of phones directly to the A/V jack and listen to see if it works that way.

(My Panasonic home video camcorders allow headphone monitoring from the A/V jack by way of a menu setting.)

If the audio from the headphone has a loud buzz in the left channel, then you are hearing the VIDEO coming thru the “tip” of the headphone plug.
If that’s the case, you will need to utilize the A/V CABLE connected to the camcorder’s A/V jack… and connect the headphones to the Red and White RCA leads via an adapter (to allow the RCA’s to “feed into” a jack that the headphones will fit.)

A sensitive set of headphones will give you louder audio.
If the level is too low, you may need to use a headphone amplifier to boost the audio level,
Google “Boostaroo” for more info on that.

I’m too polite to ask you why you bought TEN cameras without fully checking ONE before the purchase, 😉

February 1, 2007 at 3:12 pm in reply to: Creating an Effects Bin:

And the other way to do this-
Click on (highlight) your effect in the timeline, then

Effects (menu) > Make Favorite Effect

That effect will appear in Browser window, Effects Tab > Favorites

If you double-click on the Favorites bin, it will open as a separate window.

In that Favorites window, you can create new bins (Command – B)
and you can drag the effects you want into new bins.

Can’t you just put the HDV footage on a SD timeline and RENDER it?

Many HDV camcorders and decks will down-convert HDV tapes to DV if you set them to do that.

Then you’d just capture via FW and edit SD.

[carol winter] “Does anyone know if this unit will just play and not start with a menu?”

    Just to clarify.

You mean you want to RECORD (BURN) a DVD WITHOUT a menu.

The playback DVD unit doesn’t determine this, of course, the DVD must be burned in this manner.

I assume this is what you’re asking for based on your previous question.

(And I don’t have an answer about the JVC SR-DVM600US.)

Delete one of the two tracks that the voice is on, then PAN the remaining track to centger and increase its LEVEL by about 3-6 dB to compensate for the other track being removed.
