  • Slow Mo Audio Scrub?

Posted by Killideas on February 6, 2007 at 4:57 pm

My slo mo audio scrub seems to have disappeared…ie pressing down K and L or K and J for slowed down audio. I have audio scrubbing turned on, I’m sure i’ve used this before so I’m guessing its something simple…any ideas?

    TIA

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.

    Next:
THE FOLLOWING COMES FROM THE KEN STONE WEBSITE:
“Over 5,000 years ago Confucius wrote: ‘If you are toiling away, you have changed nothing and FCP heads South on you, [starts behaving in strange ways] then it is time to trash your FCP Preferences.’ ”

Click the following link for instructions.

    https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.

Download these free Apple Scripts at

    https://fcprescue.andersholck.com/
    or
    https://pistolerapost2.com/fcprescue/

This is one FCP tip that has helped in solving hundreds of “odd” problems.

Maybe you should tell us all the stuff you know about before we jump in with suggestions.

ok, relax. I’m just saying I tried that. I could have said that in the first post, I know. If I came off snarky there, I apologize. But in response to your comment, I know a lot of things. One thing I don’t know is why my slo mo scrubbing isn’t working, so if anyone who is a bit less sensitive has any ideas, that would be awesome, and thanks in advance.
I have searched previous posts and haven’t come up with anything, but then I’m not sure what the exact technical name of this procedure is, so I might be missing something. Also I am using a Powerbook G4 1.67 w 2 gigs RAM and FCP 5.1.2

[killideas] “ok, relax… If I came off snarky there, I apologize… so if anyone who is a bit less sensitive has any ideas, that would be awesome, and thanks in advance…”

Yeah, no snarky goin’ on here.

All I said was that I knew about that stuff he suggested and that I had tried it already. He responded with sarcasm, which I didn’t find overly helpful and I responded in kind. Generally in the past people have been really cool and helpful on the board, so I was kind of surprised to get that kind of response.

ANYWAYS, I still don’t know the answer so again if anyone has a specific idea of what the problem might be, or if they have also had the same problem it would be great to hear about it…many thanks in advance!!

I had an idea about where one could search on the word scrub to find some answers, but I seem to have forgotten where that was.

Thanks for your response, I did actually search scrubbing and didn’t find the problem there.

I’m gonna assume the attitude is improving and tell you straight up: I’m talking about the manual. “Scrub tool” and “scrubbing” have several entries in the index. There are 2 different settings that affect scrub behavior, I can’tr remember where they are but they’ll be in the manual.

Thanks for the response, I did check the manual and as far as I can tell all settings are correct, Audio Scrub is on. I’ve searched the web and found no info either, at least no one with this problem. I’m wondering if its my keyboard possibly. I’m going to try another one, but other than that I can’t think of anything else to try….guess I’m out of luck. Thanks for the help though.
