Ok I found the solution. In apple’s support I read that you can choose one or more clips and click re-import from the file menu. But this never worked to me. Perhaps it was for a previews version of fcp x.
What worked for me was: I selected the event and then I went to file menu> import> re-import.

I hope this note to be useful to others with the same problem.

    Cheers.

Hi Andy thanks for your help.
It bothers me a bit that I have to go again to the import folder. The import folder is there it should have the link.
Anyway I went to the import folder and indeed it mounted the camera but the re-import is not active!

just a note: it’s not a camera, it’s a folder with all the files that the camera created. I just drag and drop all the camera’s folder into a hard disk.

Thanks a lot Jeremy, I did your suggestion and it worked fine.
Thanks also everybody for your support. I should add to make it easier to the next one with the same prob that if he choose one or more clips, go to the inspector,in the tab “info” and in the metadata view choose settings instead of basic, extended etc. he will see the anamorphic override.
    There he can choose widescreen.
At least that’s how it worked for me.

Do you think the problem has to do with the codec? If yes, then why I do have the option to trasncode to proxy media and not to optimized? Also I’m wondering if the media were H264, do you think I would have the option of transcoding to optimized?
Perhaps I’ll have to try it when a project with H264 comes.

I was hopping that since fcp x can read the media, transcoding would save the day.
I’m a bit disappointed because I have to convert and then relink the media. I could do it from the beginning.

    Thanks anyway!

Hi, my media files are .avi
    here are tow screen shots:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5hmwDAiYtyNWi1zMGJua1l3dkE/edit?usp=sharing

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5hmwDAiYtyNX1dLVXlpSU1rM0pQWVJmRXJPVUxzaTRHZjJV/edit?usp=sharing

One from inspector and one from vlc.

Another issue is that from vlc you can see that the media file is 16:9 , in fcpx’s browser I see all these clips as 4:3. I changed the spacial conform to fit, fill and none, but nothing changed in the aspect ration of the clips. When I insert the clips in the project and select fit or none the clips remain 4:3. Only when I select fill becomes 16:9. I think that fcpx sees the media files as 4:3.

P.s. The project is 1920×1080 because the remaining clips are 1920×1080.
here is a screen shot of the project:

Thanks a lot anyone who shares my problem.

  • Hi, I have the same problem with subtitles. Its the first time that I have this issue with the filter outer glow. Its been a week that I finished a project. The translator send me an xml with subtitles and I render it. No problem till here. After that another project comes and I take one subtitle from the previews project and I do copy paste of the subtitle. After few more copy pastes its unable to render the subtitles. Its says “the effect outer glow failed to render at the requested size and depth”
The second project with the issue is smaller, has less subtitles and less material.

My ram is 12gb, I dont think its my hardware.

September 27, 2013 at 11:12 pm in reply to: 23.98 to 25 frame conversion software solution

Hi I have to mix material shot in 24 fps (23.98) with 25 fps in the same timeline and then deliver it at 25 fps. I don’t have to use synch sound and video but when I convert 24 to 25 with )compressor 4 I can see the frame which is double. It’s like a small freeze.
Is there a better way to do it? Perhaps a converter which makes frame blending?

    Thanks…

December 19, 2012 at 9:37 am in reply to: Mixing 24fps and 25fps on the timeline

Hi to all, I have a similar problem. My material there is no need to be synchronized. I have two dslr cameras one with 25fps and another one with 23.98 fps. its a documentary with two characters. One of them was shot with 25fps and the other one with 23.98 fps and I want to cut in parallel action. but I have something like drop frames even when I convert my material from 23.98fps to 25fps. Although, I did the convert with fcp quicktime conversion.
    Can you help?

P.s I’m in Europe so, I dont know if it matters but, I’m with pal system.
