I am not sure but I remember a year a go I had the same issue. I think it has nothing to do with edits only with adjustments that have been added on both audio channels.
Anyway make a snapshot of your sequence and make the changes to your original sequence.

Thanks Noah and Joe quite useful your replies.
The truth is I have been working a few years with fcp x I have read 3 books (for three different versions of fcpx) I have watched so many videos and tutorials and I keep on learning different methods of working and accelerating my workflow.
And I think that’s only the beginning of fcp x 😉

I have one nice tip which works for me.
When I “finish” editing I make one compound clip by selecting everything. Then I have to put different subtitles, watermarks or logos over my last edit to make different versions of my “final” versions.

So after that the director comes and says, oh can we change the colour a bit to this clip or do this and that? In fiction film this is rare I know, but in tv shows its not that rare.

So these different versions of the “final” edit are duplicates and not snapshots so everything I change in one version changes all.

Just don’t change the total duration with these changes because it will be hard to keep synch your subtitles, although its not impossible there are ways even for that.

  • There is some material with different frame rate. But fcp x supposed to have no problem with mixed frame rate. Also I wanted to simplify my timeline to send it to davinci so I put all my clips to my primary storyline.
I had two ways to do that
    A. with the position tool drugging down the clips
    B. With the shortcut cmd+ alt+ down arrow.

Bothways there were some clips that there was no way of going straight down. The clips were going a few seconds back or forward like they had anothere place in the primary storyline than the secondary.

  • Now I see that its putting a gap even when I copy-paste clips even inside the same project. I guess it’s some kind of gap.

  • I checked project settings and its the same. It should be the same since I duplicated the sequence. Also when I make a compound clip it also adds a gap between clips inside the compound. So even if the two projects had different frame rates what’s the point putting gaps in the compound which I make inside the original project?

Let’s be honest please! It’s more steps and for the real favorite effect “color correction” you can’t open it in motion so can’t add it to your favorite.

I agree with bob. It’s not something different it’s something that did exist and now it doesn’t.

Thanks everybody. I am also an fcp x user only but it bothers me that there are so many things missing from fcp 7. I’m not going back though but still.
Also the keyframes in color board!

    Anyway, thanks.
