So the AJ-1400EX Manual I found on Panasonic’s website says the deck has RS-422. That is what the XENA will support is RS-422, not RS-232. That is important. I believe the remote port on that deck might be switchable between RS-422 and RS-232. If that is the case, be sure to set the deck to RS-422. If the port is NOT switchable, and is RS-232 only, then you’ll need a converter…..

Controlling the deck by firewire for SDI capture is completely unsupported.

Jamski,
I think there are a couple things you are trying to do here and I can hopefully try to provide insight into both of them.
1) In Premiere Pro, there is DVCProHD Support, but it is my understanding that this new implementation is primarily for use with P2 Media and so it is for file based workflows, not for DVCProHD capture from tape. I dont think you can capture DVCPRO HD to Premiere Pro via firewire.
2) Using AJA XENA for uncompressed capture via SDI or Component should work, youll need to control the deck via RS422 rather than firewire to do this. If you’re connecting to the LH via SDI and RS 422 without the firwire connected, please elaborate on the capture settings youve set inPremiere Pro… also describe the crash in more detail…. Blue Screen? Premiere Crashes? What if you capture in Machina?

Hi Chris,
We’re not sure what this issue is so you probably should call in to support so we can go through some things with you offline. Once support solves your issue we’ll post the resolution here for others to read.
Be sure to identify yourself as the author of this post when you call into support so you are routed to the right tech.

Hi Jeff,
Because Prospect HD typically works on a different version of the XENA hardware driver than the latest XENA Plugins themselves, AJA advises Prospect HD users who need both the compressed Prospect HD workflows and the uncompressed XENA workflows, to install these things on separate bootable partitions or drives.
CineForm can provide you with their plugin installer along with the XENA hardware driver which they currently support. Their plugin set will include all their own project presets and several other plugins.

Videoworx,
In reply to your comment “I didn’t notice this in the 2.6 drivers, but that 6dB audio gain switch came in very handy for outputting audio to a BetaSP deck. ”
This setting was moved to the ASIO driver settings panel in 3.0 drivers . It used to be in the PPro2 Playback settings. For Machina/AE Capture/playback (which does not use ASIO) – the setting is still the same place – the setup panel.

Jeron, are you upgraded to Premiere Pro CS3 or are you using Premeire Pro 2.0?

RED,
This issue is fixed in the version 3.0 build, available on the website now.

James,
There was actually a bug that caused this in 2.6 which has been resolved in 3.0. You may have to delete the conformed audio files and reopen the project, so that they are re-conformed.
