Audio Conforming Problems
Anyone else have issues with audio clips not playing any audio on the timeline or in the bin?
Sometimes, the audio plays for a few seconds, then the rest of the clip is blank. This generally only happens to Quicktime clips that are audio/video clips.
The audio IS there, because if I play the Quicktime clip in the Quicktime player in Windows, the audio plays fine. In fact, in the past, I’ve simply exported from Quicktime Pro a WAVE file and “married” the newly-created WAVE file with the problematic clip in Premiere.
I think it’s a conforming issue because if I close the project, delete all the .CFA files and reopen the project, the clips get re-conformed, and [generally] are ok (but sometimes, OTHER clips now have issues).
Premiere CS2, Xena LH with 2.6 drivers. This [intermittent] problem happens on multiple workstations, on various versions of Xena drivers thru the months, pretty much since we’ve gotten them.

I’m assuming that the audio wasn’t still conforming when you were trying to play right?
I have seen temporary playback behavior like this, but only on USB dives that I assume simply fell behind because stopping playback and resuming playing the timeline seems to rectify the problem.
If you have these QT clips in the project, and save and close…the files are the same when you re-open the project?
What sort of project settings are you using and what’s your general configuration?

Right; I waited for the little “conforming bar” in the corner to complete before I play the timeline.
My storage is a dual-tower SataMAX RAID configuration.

There was actually a bug that caused this in 2.6 which has been resolved in 3.0. You may have to delete the conformed audio files and reopen the project, so that they are re-conformed.

Thanks. I’m actually a little leery updating the drivers from 2.6 to 3.0. Aside from a few [annoying but tolerable] bugs, my system works well. I don’t want to upgrade to fix these little issues and get a whole new set to then deal with.
If I were to upgrade to 3.0, what’s the procedure? Specifically how it relates to ALSO upgrading to CS3?

FWIW, I uninstalled the Xena 2.6 drivers, uninstalled Production Studio 2.0, installed Production Studio CS3, installed Xena 3.0 drivers and everything seems to be working fine.
