John,
There is almost certainly a switch somewhere on that deck that changes it from Remote mode to manual mode. If you want to controll it with the RS422 cable on the XENA board, it needs to be in that remote mode.
I have not specifically used that deck before, so I cant speak intelligently about where that switch is, but basically almost all decks have them.

Shawn Michael,
I have been trying to reproduce the problem you’re describing and have not been able to do it.
1) Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card installed?
2) Do you have ALL available windows updates installed?
3) What is the source of your DV Files? are you capturing them via firewire? If so, could you attach a couple of tiny (only a few frames each) files to an email to support@aja.com so we can try to test them here?AJA XENA Support

The analog inputs and outputs have multiple functionality… they can be used as SMPTE Component, RGB Component, S-video, and composite.

Shawn,
Can you describe your situation in more detail?
1) Are you having problems with a project that you started in CS2, then converted to CS3? Or one that you started in CS3? Or both?2) Are all your clips DV clips?
3) Does this occur in a new project with only one clip loaded, or does it just occur in larger projects with hundreds of assets loaded?
4) Can you specify your system specs for us?

Tim,
Can you give specifics please about:
Disk System and controller
Computer System
Operating System
Project Resolution/framerate
File type you’ve captured toWhat you’re describing is neither a common problem, nor a symptom of a faulty board. It sounds like you have a data bottleneck somewhere in your system.

Reggie, you’ll need to install Adobe on the system drive. The XENA installer requires it.

Hi Pekin,
Be sure to do the following things when you are insert editing:
1) Only enable the audio channels that your deck supports. If it only has 4 channels, shut of all the audio channels in the insert edit controls exept for channels 1-4.
2) Be sure to always use tape that is striped before it is used for the first ime
3) Be sure that ‘Preview Edit’ is not checked on. This will not actually complete the edit, but will only go through the motions and do a fake editAJA XENA Support

And a few more questions/possible solutions to add to the ones above:
1. What are your device control settings:
Capture, handles, etc in PPro
2. Is this an EDL or hand logged batch capture?
3. Is it repeatable (i.e. will it always happen with a certain batch list)
4. Is the first clip you caputre at beginning of the tape?
5. Does this happen when doing a single log and capture with the same in/out times and tape?
6. Can you capture video/audio(with same Capture setup) via a crash capture over the same in/out times in which he sees a crash with batch?
7. Try turning off Embedded SDI VITC and enabling Embedded SDI LTC on the deck (it is a menu setting setup in the deck) and then try a batch capture using embedded SDI (must be setup as both TC Input in Xena Capture Settings menu and via a check box in the Xena device control settings menu)
– Embedded SDI LTC should work (but not embedded VITC)
8. Also, is the timecode on all your tapes completely continuous? Did you stripe them before you used them?AJA XENA Support

Ok,
Need a little more info….
1) What type of computer/motherboard
2) What slot on the motherboard is the XENA in?
3) Have you tried more than one slot?
4) Is the firewire still connected when youre using the RS422 control? If so, disconnect it.
5) Do you have any reference connected? Anything else connected to the XENA besides the SDI input and the RS422?
6) Do you have EVERY possible Windows XP update?
7) I am assuming you’re using Premiere Pro CS3. Do you have every avaialable update from Adobe?
8) I presume you are using the AJA 3.0.1 plugins/drivers, is this correct?AJA XENA Support
