The switchis in Options>Preferences and is the first one but it is in the Video capture applicartion not in the Vegas editing section.

I’m not sure that that will work. When you extend the “frame” you will recover the deleted footage. Although I believe there is a ‘switch’ in a preferences somewhere that might change that. -
What do you want to do with it?
If you just want a final frame extended as a still, it needs to be the final frame of an event, then just drag it out. possibly a better way is to use a velocity envelope and drop the velocity to zero at the point you want the still.
If you want to use the still somewhere else in the project you will have to save it as an image. -
Don’t know that I quite understand what you are saying but if I do then just move your split over one frame! You can split frame accurate by zooming in on the time line. You can move the curser a frame at a time by using the arrow keys..

All you have to do is place your converted footage on the time line and view it (lol). As you view it have a quick finger on the s key (Split. This is where you make cuts. Make a cut at the beginning of a ‘toss-away’ section and one at the end of that section. Then highlighht that section and delete. You have not destroyed your original if you find you made a mistake you can just click grab the end of a section and stretch it out and recover what you deleted. If you have ‘auto-ripple’ enableed the spaces will even close up for you. You can then grab each section and mover them where you woul,d like.

I assume this is SD. In the Preferences drop down menu IN THE VIDCAP program there is a check box for making each scene its separate capture. Also the clock in your camnera must have been set for this to work as it uses diferences in time of capture to make note of when the scene changes.

You might download a file called GString. You can then drop one of the files on it and it will tell you if you have the correct codec installed. It does sound like a codec problem.
