I have just purchased Sony Vegas MS 9.0 and this is the first time I have used this product having got so frustrated with Windows Movie Maker not being able to publish.

I have installed it and added some movie files and dragged them down onto the timeline. No audio.voice wave form is present despite the files working perfectly well in realplayer, media player and movie maker. They are mpg files and I am running Vista home premium. I have installed the following as someone advised that I had a codec problem.

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=1570&s=337

    downloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow-tryout/ffdshow_prebeta5_rev2031_20080702_clsid.exe

I haven’t changed any or the default preferences nor have i configured anything in the above two downloads, I wasn’t sure if I should. I would really appreciate some help as my laptop is fairly new and is kept clean and up to date so surely a reputable product such as this should work without all of this hassle.

    Thanks

    Paula

You might download a file called GString. You can then drop one of the files on it and it will tell you if you have the correct codec installed. It does sound like a codec problem.

Do you mean GSPOT? I never heard of gstring.
