What is your aspect setting on Project settings? The same as your incoming video?

Yes, any video editor should be able to do this.

    What happened to Douglas’s video?

You might try installing Media Player Classic.

Vegas handles the HDV from my FX1 just fine. Edits the native format on the timeline without having to use intermediates or proxies, just slower. A dual core minimum would be nice.

If you are going to do compositing you will almost have to use Vegas Pro. The Studio versions are limitted to 4 video tracks. Vegas Pro has as many as you want.

Are you splitting using the keyboard S command? Have you tried to ungroup the two split portions (U). Don’t know why they would need that though.

    Carl,
When I try to apply the CC I get no control window and the preview window turns solid red. Pr8b. What might I be doing wrong?

1: MWhen you have made a selection (colored segment) just place your curser outside the selection and click. Selection will go away. Does not matter that the little yellow triangles stay where they are. They will automatically go to any new selection that you make.
2: Many ways. One: Click on ignore event grouping icon in toolbar. All grouping will temporarily go away until you unclick it. Two: Highlight (click on) either the video or audio (not both) and hit U (Ungroup) you can then move it independantly.
3:Its easier to move smaller distances (ie 1 frame) by zooming in on the time line then use arrow keys.

Yes, the preview views are only to allow you to see the difference between the affected and unaffected footage. The Fx will be applied to the entire event.
