  • Help! Timeline Problem??

    Hi,
I am currently working on a project with both video and pictures in which I discovered a problem today.
When placing a video in the timeline with a picture under it (different track) I am getting a small 1/4″ strip of the picture on both top and bottom sections of the video while previewing. When I “don’t have” a picture directly under my video, the video is in proper aspect (filling the screen). I haven’t changed any settings and the placement of video and pictures have been working fine up until now.
The only way I could fix this problem was to go into the Pan/Crop window of each video event and click on “Match Output Aspect.” I never had to treat video like this before, it always has been in proper aspect when interacting with pictures. I’d like to add that I do go into the Pan/Crop window for each picture and click on Match Output Aspect for proper aspect.
If anyone has any idea what’s going on I would sincerely appreciate your help. As always, Thank you Ray

What is your aspect setting on Project settings? The same as your incoming video?

    Hi Terry,
My aspect setting is set at HDV 1080i (1440×1080) 29,970 fps. I also tried setting it at HDV 1080i (1920×1080) 29,970 fps. I’ve alway’s used the HDV 1080i (1440×1080)setting. When I capture video, I select HDV over SD. I am capturing from a Sony HDR-HC7 which I filmed in HD. I don’t believe it’s from the way it was captured because I’m using the same events as before this problem. Thanks, Ray

    Hi,
I just placed a picture in proper aspect “above” my video event in which I got the same result. I just discovered that it doesn’t matter if I’m over, under or off the picture, my video aspect remains the same, about a 1/4″ on the top and bottom from being in proper aspect. There’s no problem with the width. Originally, I thought it was due to being under or over a picture or video, but that’s not the case. Everything captured on video is not quite in proper aspect. I’m up in arms, I will try capturing some new video and see what happens, but like I said before, I don’t believe it’s my captured video due to it being ok before today. I even tried a new project thinking something isn’t set right in one of my timelines in my project, but got the same results. I’ll let you know if I get it resolved. As always, Thank you, Ray
