    Gary,
Don’t have Sound Forge -yet. Thanks for the hint.

I believe there is a setting in preferences that allows you to make speed changes without changing the pitch. I think if you uncheck that you might get it done.

I stand corrected, ot IS Excaliber that has the function. I many times get the two mixed up in my mind as to witch does what. There is some overlap. Great tools both.

[DV Memories Video] “re-join 2 clips together after they have been split,”
I think UltimateS has an unsplit function

Many times the preview window will lag a bit. If you really want to see how the audio and video fit in a transition, create a region over the transition and do a ram render of the region and then play it. It will show you just what the output will look like.

You could build a thought bubble in Photoshop and use a alpha channel background. Then import it into Vegas and place it on the track above your video. Make sure properties are set to alpha premultiplied (dirty) or you will not get the transparancy. You can then move the bubble where you want using event or track pan and crop. You could then place a text event on the track above the bubble and move it into position.

Use the wave form to do the editing on. Much more accurate than ‘doing it by ear’.
You could prerender a specific area that you are working on and it should then be synced.

Used to drive me crazy during capture when the audio and video did not appear synced. Helps if you have the preview set to lower quality setting. Decided I could live with it if the output was in synch and it always was.

    Gary,
Sorry, after some more research I see that the Firestore is indeed very mobile. The idea of usding a laptop when stationary is intriguing. How would you connect it up? Would you be using the Vegas capture utility? Have you actually done this and what were the problems -if any?

[Gary Kleiner] “If you are shooting from a fixed position”

So apparently it needs a 110 power supply, therefore the fixed position? Not for use in mobile situations?

[Gary Kleiner] “To make you audio levels consistant, adjust them either with track volume control, event gain control, or volume envelopes”

I would make use of the normalize switch
