Greg -Nice…but a small nitpicky comment – You misspelled one of the words in one of your title sequences. You used the word ‘loose’ when I believe you wantetd to use ‘lose’

  • I have the full Vegas so I really don’t know the limitations of Studio except for the number of tracks – but that shouldn’t be a problem.

Place photo 1 on track 1. Use event pan and crop to size and place it. Place photo 2 on track 2 and do the same thing. Move photo 2 to time you want it to appear. Both photos can be on the screen at the same time. At the very begiing of the first photo place a ‘transition’Use a very short hard white flash. It will look like a flash bulb going off and the the picture appears. You will need to find a sound effect of a shutter (or record one) and place it in track 3 under the ‘flash’. Have fun.

Does it make any difference what player I use? I know what you mean about DVD/player compatability. But will the DVD (MPEG2) format be as good a resolution as say the avi from the computer and what about the connections from computer to projector?
    Thanks for the reply.

OK, I’ve seen several people mention Scenalyser. Maybe you can tell me how it would help here. Doing a little research it appears to be a capture utility, and apparently a pretty good one. However my video will be acquired via a Firestore, so for all intents and purposes it will be captured already. I just need to import it into Vegas for necessary editing. And then output it for delivery. I believe you have suggested PTT. Do you mean actually printing to tape (miniDV) and playing it into the projector from a camera or deck? Is there some trick that Scenalyser will perform here?
    Thanks for the information.
I never really looked at Scenelyzer before as I have never had any problem with the Vegas carture program.

OK Edward, lets add a wrinkle…

You want to do a SDE and there is very little time allowed. Basically you don’t have time to make a DVD. You barely have time to add the SDE material to the preproduced material that you have on your timeline. Besides not getting into this position in the first place, how would you handle this?
And do you have any suggestions about the connections?
Thanks for the reply. You are always quick. Must be closely attached to your computer!

There are programs out there to portend to change a file from one format to another. You might be able to change your file (whatever it is) to one that Vegas likes.

This is not the first time I used this setup. I knew that this mike was somewhat ‘hot’. The transmitter actually has an adjustment but I think it is adjusted as low as it will go. I had time to do a short sound check when I found the problem. ONly had time to try and lower the adjustm, ent on the transmitter. I was monitoring with headphones and immediately knew I had a problem but presentation could not be stopped. I was hecticly trying to figure out a solution when I hit the attenuate switch and found that it was acceptable. Have not been able to find a way to fix adquately in post. I realize that it may not be possible.

I believe you. Are you saying that Soundforge can do it easier. I have downloaded the trial period of Soundforge and played with it a while. I can get the sound better, but not much. Which tools would you use?
