Alittle audio HELP!
I have a program recoded with my PD150 using a Samson wireless mike. Unfortunately the audio was too hot and the speakers voice is overdriven and therefore ‘mushy’. I used the manual volume control on the PD150 to turn down the recording volume but it really didn’t help. It just sounded like a lower volume overdriven mike. It too me until about half way through the program (2hours) before I found that if I used the attenuation switch on the camera it helped considerably. There ar4e adjustments on the mic for power and I thought I had it turned way down. Hopefully it will tuirn dowon some more.
But my question is is there anything I can do in post to ty and better this audio. I know GIGO but I was hoping some of you experts could give me an idea of any tweaks I could try.

There’s the peak restoration FX, but I think that installs with Sound Forge.

Even with the proper tools it would take a very very long time to fix this. You will have to zoom into the waveform very tight and manually fix each cliped waveform. Are you sure you want to manually fix 2hrs worth of audio?
If you really do I will see if Vegas has the needed tools. I use Soundforge for this.
Beleive me it will take a very long time to fix this.

I believe you. Are you saying that Soundforge can do it easier. I have downloaded the trial period of Soundforge and played with it a while. I can get the sound better, but not much. Which tools would you use?

Is this the first time you’ve used this setup? Did you test it before the shoot?

Don’t think Vegas has the tools needed to unclip the waveform.
Soundforge has the toolset needed. Also another fine audio editor for
this type of work is Audition. Given the choice I would go with Soundforge since it intergrates very well with Vegas.Since you have a trail version of Soundforge you could give that a try. Drop me an email at cooledit2003@yahoo.com and I will email you

This is not the first time I used this setup. I knew that this mike was somewhat ‘hot’. The transmitter actually has an adjustment but I think it is adjusted as low as it will go. I had time to do a short sound check when I found the problem. ONly had time to try and lower the adjustm,ent on the transmitter. I was monitoring with headphones and immediately knew I had a problem but presentation could not be stopped. I was hecticly trying to figure out a solution when I hit the attenuate switch and found that it was acceptable. Have not been able to find a way to fix adquately in post. I realize that it may not be possible.
