How about just rendering from the timeline to the format that you need. Vegas will render to many formats and codecs
But apparently not to Flash. What if that was the desired end product? -
Sounds like you also want to reduce the size of the video so the ‘black’ shows around the outside of the frame. You do this by using either pan and crop at the event level or track motion at the track level.

Normally when you add a Video event to the time line, the associated audio event is added with it and they are “grouped”. You may have somehow activated the ‘ignore event grouping’ setting. There is a button along the top panel with a lock in it. Check that setting.

In Vegas you select the track (left click on it) place yoour cursor (moving line) where you want to split the track and press S.

OK, I just opened Vegas again. PLaced a short avi file on my time line. Selected it. Went to Tools, Scripting, Deshake. Deshaker “did its thing”. At the end of “its thing” it replaced the event on the timeline with the new ‘deshook’ event as a take. It also added the take to the project media as 00001xxx.avi. I could then right click on the event in the time line and by choosing ‘take’ I got a menu that listed the original and the ‘deshook’ version and I could cycle through which one was on the time line. Worked perfectly. BTW this is not an editing machine. 2.2MHz P4 512mb XP running all the junk in the world.
That is to say, I don’t think the problem is with the script or Vegas. Unfortunately I can’t say what it is.

You didn’t give specifications but perhaps your computer is not stout enought handle the size/bit rate of the rendered file?

I have used the Deshaker script from within Vegas with quite satisfactory results.
I am currently at work (nonvideo related) and this computer has Vegas 6 installed for me just to play with in my spare time. I did not have Deshaker on this computer. So I just went to the link that Mike provided in the second message of this thread. I then linked to the download site and downloaded a compacted file onto my desktop. I then unzipped the file into their HIGHLY recommended directory and followed the included instructions:Installation: Double-click on the EXE file and let it install all files
in the c:\deshaker folder. You can move the Vegas script file (deshake.js)
to your script folder, but leave everything else in this folder, even
if you already have VirtualDub and Deshaker installed elsewhere.To use, open a Vegas project. Select all video events that you wish to deshake.
They can be on any track, anywhere in the project. Then, run the script.
Everything happens automatically, and when the process is finished,
the deshaken video for each event will have been added as a take.I copyed and pasted the script file into the Vegas script menu.
I then opened Vegas>Tools>Scripting and the Deshake script was there. Seems to work just fine. -
You have somehow minimized the time line. Take your curser to the bottom right of the window and open it back up.
