I’m trying to help out a guy on a 4X4 truck forum that I read and post to. He has some video that he shot in New York on his 8 megapixel Olympus camera, that he wants to edit and add music to. The problem is he wants to use Windows Movie Maker and it will not accept the Quicktime format.

I suggested he buy Vegas, but he’s not looking to spend a lot of money…..just wants to play around with Win Movie Maker. Does anyone know of any good free or inexpensive software that will convert his Quicktime file into something that Win Movie Maker will work with? Let me know and I’ll pass along the info. Thanks.

Quicktime Pro is only $30 and it’ll export AVI files which can be imported to WMM.

Magic DVD Ripper is about $40 and will convert to just about anything. Or, do a Google on FFMPEG for free download. FFMPEG is a Dos based program but it does just about everything you can think of.
