The connection is via 10GbE through a 10GbE switch to the QNAP. The MacMini was ordered with 10GbE. Also, I mistyped last night, it&#8217;s an LTO-7 not an LTO-6.</p>

Many of the media folders transferred sooooo much faster than our old LTO4, but some project folders are going really slowly. Like days. Literally. You probably have audio from more than one camera enabled. One or more of the angles is a few frames out of sync with the others. Usually one only transcodes if FCPX is having a hard time playing the media format or the hard drive can&#8217;t keep up, like trying to play a 4K multicam, etc.</p>
<p>Your drive having &#8220;errors&#8221; is worrisome and might be related to bad FCPX behavior. You haven&#8217;t installed any &#8220;disk cleaners&#8221; like Clean My Mac have you? It&#8217;s been known&hellip;</p>

I agree with Henrik, if it&#8217;s possible to update your MacBook Pro to a later OS you can upgrade FCPX to a later version. I believe MacOS 10.13 would allow you to run FCPX 10.4.6. </p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t upgrade, have you tried reseting the preferences? I don&#8217;t remember if this works on such an old FCPX&hellip;</p>

I thought for sure it was corrupt until it finally opened and I saw all the compounds. Other projects of similar length (~2 hrs) would open in 1-2 minutes.</p>
<p>Did you consider using Project Snapshots for the backup versions?</p>

For example if there are 5 sources, try creating a multicam with 1-4. If you get the bulk of the multicam sync&#8217;d, you can manually add and sync the problem source.</p>

<p>I don&#8217;t think there&#8217;s a built-in way to automatically display source timecode. This allows us to keep the files in place and no need to optimize. This workflow will use more disk space but it&#8217;s been worth it for us.</p>

It&#8217;s usually a good idea to backup both the FCPX application itself and your libraries before doing an upgrade like this, just in case. We leave our media in place (not stored within the library) so the library files are not very large. If it were me I&#8217;d back them up, but I&#8217;m paranoid.
