Choose H264 from the dropdown menu and choose a high enough profile and level. Then TYPE the values in to the resolution settings because AME might freak out if you drag it to an invalid value.

The extract command might do what you want. Activate the tracks you want, select in and out and extract.

I’d guess that the Roxio whatever Capture makes variable frame rate files like some cellphones do. The files play fine in a media player but they won’t sync in NLEs that are expecting a constant frame rate.

Final Cut writes some files that will not just work on Windows machines without some codecs which aren’t free.

Quantel iQ has an option to choose either an inclusive or exclusive out point. I’ve found out it just messes me up even more when there are couple of users with their own preferences.

The Quicktime version of H264 is getting pretty dated. The “proper” H264 mp4 has so much options for encoding.

Timewarp, offset or reverse the same clip and set the opacity lower so it shows as a ghost image.

BORIS RED is a standalone compositing/titling program. I have not heard of any plugins that would replace or enhance the brush tools.
