Depends upon what system you are using.
Basically, you just capture in to an SD project, then change the project to an HD one. You will have to resize the SD footage to get to the proper (16×9) aspect ratio. At this point, if you are on a Symphony Nitris, you can output to tape. If you are on anything less than that, you will have to transcode first.

Not necessarily. If they are capturing on another station, all you need is playback. Check out Matrox MXO for $995. It works with Mac MC.

Couple of things, there isn’t an “Avid” fibre card, but they will sell you an ATTO acrd with their markup if you like. 😉
If your fibre card is the “Apple” card, whose make is it really? Odds are it’s not supported. My bet is you’re buying an ATTO card. You then need to find out whether they’re running 2 gig or 4 gig.
You will need to also make sure that whatever version of MC you are running is compatible with their version of Unity. The easiest thing would be to ask them what version of MC they are running, and set yourself up accordingly. Make sure you also have supported versions of system and QT to match their version of software.
They will have the Unity client software to install on your system.

You can always promote the Spectramaate to 3D to get Avid’s built in shadow. It’s not very good though.
Or, use the BCC chroma key.

You can’t go that direction. Only from Avid to ProTools.
The reason for that is you can edit at the sample rate in ProTools, in Avid you can only edit at the frame rate.
In other words, in Avid you can only cut audio at 30, or 24, or 25 frames. Right on the frame.
In ProTools, if you are working at 48K, you can edit at 1/48,000th of a second. So how would that possibly come back into Avid land?
Automatic Duck worked around this on the FCP side by just rounding the edit point up or down on the return trip. But Avid has never supported this.

You have maximum quality selected in your “render” settings. Once you hit render, it converts all of your effects to HQ mode which takes years to render.
Or you were in draft mode and now you aren’t?

Let’s look at the business side. Who wants to spend a ton of money developing an artist, then expose him to all of your client base, and even encourage developing relationships there, so that he can later leave and take some of those clients and his newly developed (on your dime) skill sets with him to some other place?

Something is wrong in your process, but it is hard to tell without more information.
Did you take the low resolution media offline before starting?
Did you then decompose the sequence using what settings?
Do you have multicam in your project, if so did you deselect the “capture all in a group clip” option?
