Hourly is normal for freelance or short term gigs. 4 hour minimum is standard.

Longer term editing is usually done on daily or weekly rates.

When you say “EDLs”, do you actually mean an EDL or a Media 100 project?

EDLs are easy. Open the Avid EDL tool, open your EDL in there, Create a sequence.

It’s that easy when it works. Of course there are all kinds of gotchas with EDLs, you will probably end up rebuilding some stuff.

If it’s a Media 100 project, they are still being supported. BorisFX.com owns the Media 100 line now.

Just use CMX. It doesn’t really matter as EDL manager will handle it on the way in.
