nope, the Aja is the only things plugged into the firewire bus. Ive been using the easy setups but still no luck. im using a sony Beta sp UVW-1800.

i wouldnt think id need a usb-rs422, seeing as the breakout box has the rs422 connection

well, that didnt seem to help it at all. one thing i did notice though, is that when i use the capture now function. before all this starting happening it would wait for timecode, so id have to press play before it would start capturing and when i’d press escape to stop it, the deck would stop as well. now though, when i use the capture now, it starts capturing right away whether or not there is running timecode and when i press escape, the deck continues to play. is there a setting on the deck that would control this?

no nothing else got updated or changed. i wonder though if something got left behind when i reverted to the previous drivers. i used the unistall that comes with the drivers, but still even after that, when i was installing the previous version drivers it said there was a newer version already installed. of course i chose to install over it, but it just kinda makes me wonder.

if i use the blackmagic deck control it doesnt have to initiate the edit to tape or capture window so it doesnt do it.

although in the edit to tape window, when i switch to the mastering settings tab and then switch back to the video tab it does it also. it is very strange. is there maybe some setting im missing?

Shift-N to make a still (either in the viewer or from the timeline) export using quicktime conversion, select still image from the list at the bottom, then select options, and choose what format you want.

yes, its definitely registered, and the reinstall did not fix it. its very odd cause like i said, i have more or less the same setup at home and it works fine. i tried exporting a clip from a completely different project, but still the same…. sigh

i didnt mean to start a big fuss over this. but it doesnt need a camera to dolly in. it would work just like the curve editor in shake or the trax or graph editor in maya. i think anyone who has ever used software that functions like that will agree its a far more superior, intuitive, and quicker way of navigating around on a timeline. i guess i was just wondering why apple integrated it in shake and not FCP.

think about that for a second.

yes, i tried exporting a clip from the timeline but it still does the same thing. the clip is dvcpro50 30p, captured from my p2 store, and im using shake 4 and FCP 5.0.4 its driving me insane cause it works fine with my g5 at home. Do i have to set the path for shake somewhere in FCP?
