Hi, im setting up a Io La for use on a imac with fcp 5. everythings hooked up, but im unable to get any deck control. In the Device control presets pane, its says i need to configure the port. when i click edit, the area where i would set the port is greyed out and uneditable. What do i need to do to get this working right?

First of all, what are you using for storage? The Macs only have one firewire bius and the io wants all of it. If you have another firewire device on your bus, that could be causing problems.

Second, if you select an AJA easy setup, you still don’t have deck control? What kind of deck?

I believe you will need a USB to serial converter from Keyspan to use the 9 pin cable. Run software. Select the adapter. Then connect the IO to your iMac. Something like that.

After thinking about it does the 422 cable go from IO to deck or iMac to deck? If it is IO to deck then my suggestion won’t work will it?

The io has a built in Rs-422 that connects straight to the deck, no other adapters needed.

nope, the Aja is the only things plugged into the firewire bus. Ive been using the easy setups but still no luck. im using a sony Beta sp UVW-1800.

i wouldnt think id need a usb-rs422, seeing as the breakout box has the rs422 connection

Uninstall the drivers, download the latest drivers from AJAs website and reinstall.

[teerav] “YES!!! apparently for osx 10.3.x you need to have the 2.0 drivers “

    That’ll do it.
