Thanks for the reply Mike. One thing I might try is to hook the camera up with the USB cable and try to format it through windows that way. I know the camera formats the card to it’s specific format type when you take pictures to the card but I would think that a person should be able to format it afterwards with windows to be able to use it as a storage device. My Fugi camera uses xD cards and I can just pull the card out of the camera, pop it in the card reader and everything works fine. I’ll do some experimenting and see what I can come up with. I usually just use Roxio for this. I just create a Data Disc…copy the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS to the root directory of the disc…then create another folder/folders in the root directory and copy all the project files there. As long as you finalize the disc it should play on most players. I’ve never had any problems doing it this way.

Their loss for sure! Epson obviously have the complete market for low budget disc printers. Mine have served me well (on my second R200 and have two new R220s in the closet). When I can sell five DVDs and pay for a brand new printer I consider that a pretty good deal, plus the fact that I can print lots of full color discs on one set of generic ink. I know some of the people on the forum have continuous ink systems on their printers and that’s even cheaper. Anyone that needs to produce mass quantities of discs at a time would probably need something different than the Epsons but for the average joe who prints no more than 10-20 at a time they’re great.

Knock on wood…but I’ve been using generic ink off of Ebay for quite a while now. Been through 3 or 4 sets now and not any problems. But that’s why I keep a couple of new printers in my storage closet just in case the printer goes down. Personally I’d rather give $99 for a whole new printer than to buy OEM ink at high dollar prices but that’s just me.

I have an R200 that I’ve been using now for about a year. Best thing since sliced bread. Go to Epson.com and you can get the R220 for $99. I just bought two of them and to my surprise I got free shipping by buying two of them.

If I’m not mistaken I think Peter means 8000 max…not 80000. I just did a project that was 2hr 25min on a DVD and it came out fine.

Thanks Don and Gary for your input. I was hoping you guys could give me some insight since each render of this project takes a little over 3 hours (quite a long wait to experiment). I ended up doing a single pass render with VBR 2000, 3600, 5000 and the quality looks surprisingly good, even a spinning ceiling fan looks natural. All of the footage was shot with the camera on a tripod. DVDA now shows 93% disc usage and Nero shows the total data to be just over 4 gig. I used a simple text menu with nine chapter marks. Gained some valuable info on this project. Just burned a copy and it plays and looks fine.

Captured via firewire from a small digital camcorder. I do not play anyone else’s tapes in my VX2100 so I used their camera to capture from. All four tapes were recorded the same day but on different recorders. The tapes were shot from cameras mounted inside an airplane cockpit. It’s just strange to me that the problem does not show up at all on the timeline…only after rendered.
