That is strange. I get the options for dv. Try restarting your computer and before you start premiere make sure your camera is turned on through the firwire. Start Premiere and then chose new project and pick desktop editing mode and see what your playback setting options are. Click on the dropdown for external device and there should be some other options.

Did you get your Firewire out to your monitor to work? I had the same problem at first then I tried again and it worked just fine. I don’t know what happened but it did finally work.

I can get firwire to work in that mode. In the project settings I just use firwire out.
For compressor I just use the uncompressed option. I think this compressor choice is for preview rendering only. When you output it you can use Adobia media encoder like any other project you just need to select progressive (no fields). -
When you set up a new project you need to select desktop editing mode and that will let you chose no fields (progressive)29.97 fps.

I do most of my effects in After Effects but I use nests in Premiere mainly for color correction. I just did a work out video wich lasted for 45 minutes and after I nested it to do my color correction the original sequence became so unresponsive I would have to delete my nest to do any edits. With this new trick I can leave my nest and continue editing my original.

People De-Interlace to get more of a film motion look. It definiatly gets rid of that Soap Opera look. It is more of a subjective decision on how it looks. Progressive frames look different then interlaced so it is up to you for what look you are going for. If you like the results I suggest that you look to DVFilm maker for your de-Interlace software. Premiere will do it but it is very low quality. DVFilm Maker does a much better job!!

If I shoot at a 120 shutter and slow my footage down 50 percent and then deinterlace it. I can get pretty good results. By doing this you are getting back to 1/60 where dv should be shot at for maximun results.
If this is not good enough try using after effects if you have it. It does a much better job.

You cannot do this in your versions. You need the new Production Studio with Dynamic Link to accomplish this.
