Deinterlacing Question
When exactly is deinterlacing neccesary or required?
I haven’t had to do that very often, but now I have that feeling that maybe it should be done everytime, Like maybe I missed a basic beginner’s rule…

One general rule is to choose the deinterlace option in the Adobe Media Encoder if your audience will only be watching on a PC monitor or other Progressive scan display (which does not support fields). Some folks choose to deinterlace Mpeg2 for DVDs watched on a TV but I dont like the motion that produces.

People De-Interlace to get more of a film motion look. It definiatly gets rid of that Soap Opera look. It is more of a subjective decision on how it looks. Progressive frames look different then interlaced so it is up to you for what look you are going for. If you like the results I suggest that you look to DVFilm maker for your de-Interlace software. Premiere will do it but it is very low quality. DVFilm Maker does a much better job!!
