Well if I normally drag two connected clips together it won’t automatically turn to storyline. But now if I drag one connected clips edge to other and have G pressed down I get this green rectangle and it will automatically turn to storyline. This was new feature to me.

Oh well at least this creating storylines by holding down G and bringing connected clips together seems to work. I wasn’t aware of that either.

    Thanks Simon!

There’s also no visible sign in UI showing whether this feature is toggled on or off. Strange. Or maybe I just don’t get it 🙂

Yeah I’ve read description and pressed G many times in different situations but haven’t noticed any effect. There’s also no mention about this feature in manual. Maybe it’s some feature what will be added in future update… Who knows.

Well you can easily build timecode generator in Motion (there’s timecode effect in Motion) and drop it to top storyline. Also you can build timecode as an effect and drop that to the clip and it will actually read original timecode from the clip.

December 19, 2011 at 9:24 pm in reply to: PrP CS5 Aliased video in Program monitor

Well I’ve used Premiere CS5.5 on different MacPros and Macbook Pros and noticed this thing that some codecs (Prores, Quicktime DV…) look pixelated on program monitor. And yes I’m having full resolution turned on. It looks like scaling is done in some very poor nearest neighbor algorithm. But then for example all MPEG2, H264 material look great. Even Quicktime IMX (but that’s also MPEG2) look great. I think this got something to do that Premiere has to use Quicktime for runninc some codecs such as Prores. And MPEG2 is run by it’s own engine. Just guessing.

But yeah this problem is real and I’ve seen it on many machines. Of course some people doesn’t care. They can still edit even with little bit pixelated program monitor and export doesn’t anyway have this problem.

I don’t know why but some codecs such as ProRes looks always pixelated on my Premiere Pro CS5.5 program monitor. Although if you export it everything is still okay. On my computer Prores material pixelation goes away if I turn on fields for material. I don’t know if this is your problem but I really hope Adobe spends serious attention to Prores workflow in CS6. Maybe even license codec from Apple and do native workflow.

It seems that updates are released different times in Mac App Store based on timezone (I’m in Finland). One thing I hope this update fixes is problems with 3rd party plug-ins so Red Giant Software can finally publish their great Magic Bullet Looks. You can put the events/projects to any folder on XSAN. From FCPX choose FILE -> ADD SAN LOCATION. To have this to working XSAN has to be mounted directly with fiber not through AFP etc..

  • Holy… Thanks Jeremy! I’ve been googling and trying different strange command line metadata editors without success but yes QT edit works! Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙂 Correct value for PAL SD seems to be 118:81.
