There’s no actual render manager in FCPX but if you select project or event in you can select File->Delete Project/Event Render Files which will delete all the render files. And of course you can also manually delete proxy files/optimised media from events if you don’t need those anymore.

Well there are couple different ways to manage your events at the moment. First one is manually moving events to some other folders:

Another way is to manage your events using disk images:

July 11, 2011 at 1:43 pm in reply to: LOL – Has anyone noticed that Broadcast Safe doesn’t work?Hi Kevin,
broadcast safe works. It’s just everything is processed from top to bottom in video. So effects (such as broadcast safe) comes before color correction, transfrom etc.. Stupid I know. So in order to get broadcast safe work with color board you have to put clips inside compound clip and put broadcast safe effect to it or use “adjustment layer” and add effect to it. I prefer adjustment layer way (I wrote just about this problem in my blog – https://avseikkailuja.blogspot.com/2011/07/use-titles-as-adjustment-layers-in.html).

Very interesting thing. I think in future we’ll see more difference between projects and compound clips. For example my guess is that projects start to support Lion’s version feature. That way you can easily go back within your project. Maybe with XSAN (or other shared storage) all clients can read events but only one can modify that but projects are always ‘local’ so you can start editing with your project while assistant editor keeps adding keywords to event… I don’t know. Anyway at the moment for local one seat system it’s hard to find any reason to use projects.

Actually I just realized if I’d like to I wouldn’t even have to create projects because I can choose create compound clip (from some clip) in events. Then cut all my material in it and export. No need to create project… Even stranger. I hope somebody figure this out.

Just bring higher framerate video clip to lower framerate timeline and it will be skipping frames and creating “filmic look”.
If actual speed is not so important for you maybe you want to bring 60fps/30fps material to 24fps timeline and select conform frame rate from clips speed options. This way it’ll play all frames from original video with slower speed.

I also like to see better support for Audio unit plug-ins. I don’t want FCP to be audio editing suite but 99% of time I simply need to add compressor/limiter (Waves Ultramazimixer) to final mixdown and I hate that I have to go to Soundtrack Pro for such a small thing.

You can bring some .qtz files (screensavers, animations etc.) straight to timeline but Phil is talking about iChat effects (which should work as filters) and you’ll get only black screen if you bring those to FCP.
