November 27, 2009 at 7:40 pm in reply to: At wits end! Export Quicktime yields nonsync audio. That’s just it. The audio (as wav files) is perfectly in sync when I play it back in FCP. It is only after the export that it’s out of sync. This is terribly frustrating. Being that it’s in sync in FCP I wonder if changing the audio files to AIFFs will make any difference.

From Quicktime.app I monitor (the exported quicktime) using the same screen and default built-in audio. Nothing fancy here. I did check how I was monitoring everything – making sure I wasn’t sending audio to my Blackmagic Multibridge Pro.

November 25, 2009 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Why does my nested sequence need rendering?Silly me. I got it. I had some of my sequences set to Apple Pro Res for the render control after doing some reading about using XDCAM EX. The earlier sequences use the same codec as sequence.

Thanks for the tips, but i want to clarify. You mentioned to change the compressor toe ProRes 422. How about the Render control to ProRes 422?. I’ve read some people only changing that option rathe than the compressor.

Can I just export to Quicktime movie to yield the same results? My timelines are already fully rendered with color correction and filters and I don’t likely have the time to change the render settings, rerender, and marry my mix to picture before exporting to quicktimes.
I would export using the ProRes 422 codec, not the HQ if that’s OK. Please advise and thanks. Afte this, i don’t think i want to use the xdcam ex codec anymore. I need to spend more time with the prores format.

Strange – I also have 7.3.1 on Snow Leopard, and my fan stays on constantly even when I power off my machine. When I first bought the Multibridge Pro 2, the fan would shut off (eventually) once the computer was shut down. Now it stays on no matter what.
Side note – i am having constant crashes with final cut pro when displaying out to our plasma via HDMI (using 1080p24 XDCAM EX video)
So all in all, now that I have Snow Leopard and the latest driver, here’s what I am up against
– fan never stops
– repeating crashes
– it seems I lost some video playback options (particularly those that downres HD to SD)
– lost extended desktop (and I don’t have an an Nvidia. I am using ATI HD 4870)Could someone from BM please chime in. I am always supporting BM products in opposite AJA with other folks, but these issues are really hurting my workflow. Also, the fan issue can’t help but make wonder how this is affecting the longevity of my MbP2
Still love the products, but throw us a bone hear.

September 10, 2009 at 4:35 pm in reply to: Multibridge Pro 2 Fan never stops – normal? Thanks for the input everyone. I just thought that it was awkward for the fan to be running when it’s not in operation – that none of the devices it’s connected to are on.
I do remember when I first got it that when I shut down my mac pro, the fan on the MB Pro 2 shut down as well. However with successive software updates the fan has stayed on.
Will (or anyone), can you explain the Open GL/nvidia/Blackmagic issues. I am not aware of this. I am running an ATI (AMD) Radeon HD 4870 and running Snow Leopard. Would anyone know why I no longer have the desktop option anymore?
