Is there any other method? There are a lot of shots to be rerendered then. Is there any way that I can match the gamma using FCP filters on his prores clips? Is there any documentation of numerical values I can apply to gamma correction filters to compensate for the differences between my XDCAM EX video and his ProRes files?

I know it’s strange. I actually don’t think its a drift anymore. In any case I took the vide from the cut and our mix from protools (as a wave) and put them in soundtrack and all was in sync.
I took the same vide and audio and put them on a new timeline in Final Cut and they are not in sync after a few minutes
My sequence has the right settings for the video (25 fps). The only difference is the bit depth (sequence is 32, audio is 16). Audio rates are the same (48 KHz

It starts out in sync, but then gets out of sync over the course of 20 minutes (the length of the cut)
I’ve tried exporting from Soundtrack, but that doesn’t do anything.

Thanks for that info. My 9200 only drives my 17″ apple display for extra screen real estate such as in using it for my browser window in FCP or using it for Safari, Mail, etc. I only use Motion on my main display.

Found the answer:
With the Mac OS X updates available from Apple’s website only the core display driver is updated; all the preinstalled ATI support files (i.e. the ATI ROM Xtender and ATI Displays) from your installation CD, or later updates from ati.com, should remain intact and continue to operate. If you are performing a Mac OS X update, you should not remove the ATI support files prior to or after updating your OS.

I bought this card directly from ATI and it has never been amazing per say. Every time I go back from one app to Motion i always get the beach ball for awhile and sometime just when working in Motion, both under Tiger and Leopard and doing a full reinstall.
When Apple provides updates does Apple include video card drivers or not with the system updates? Would I truly find the most updated version on ATI’s site? Also, how can I know which driver version I have? I don’t have an ATI control panel. Currently I am running Leopard.

Hi Jocem. Just something to consider (though it may not matter much for your situation). I just posted yesterday an interesting problem. My ATI X1800XT card with 256 MB RAM in my G5 can’t seem to hold a candle to my MacBook Pro’s 128 MB video card. This is absurd and very upsetting, but true. I get errors and weird breakups if I try to open a Motion 3 project i did on my MBP on my G5, yet the ATI has twice the vide memory. Particularly with images over 2048×2048 – with both machines having the same settings in motion as well as preferences set exactly. The MBP gives me no errors and performs much better than my Dual 2 GHz G5.

I figured it out. I just used the paint tool as my path and applied the write on behavior to it. Then i just put my mask on top of it and made sure my paint brush size was bigger than the mask.

I prefer your method. My method will cause a lot of headaches.
Could you explain it a little more – your method. I am not to familiar with using track mattes.T

Sorry, but I am a little confused. What isn’t clear to me is using the pen tool to create a path for a shape to essentially fill up as a solid. Take a look at this test I did just using simple crop animations (https://tangierclarke.com/flourishtest.mov). I had to break that first piece at the bottom (right) into two pieces because when I animated the crop from left to right I run into the end of the piece before the furthest right part of it could get revealed. So it’s one piece that crops open from left to right then the rest of it from bottom to top – all for that one plant base piece.
I don’t quite get how to use the pen to animate that shape “filling” with color or writing on as people are accustomed to in AE.
